When and why did you develop an interest in riding a motorcycle? It all started when I rode pillion in 2018. I wanted more of that freedom feeling!

How old were you when you first rode a bike? I was 51.

Of the bikes you’ve ever owned which was your favourite if you had one? Difficult to choose: I used to love my Yamaha Dragstar 1100 for the chrome but I am now in love with its replacement, my Kawasaki Vulcan 650, so much more nimble and responsive.

If you were given the opportunity to own any bike on the market which would it be? An Indian cruiser or bobber.

What is your favourite motorcycle gadget? A phone holder and panniers!

Where is your preferred place to ride in the UK? The Essex country roads; Wales and I am looking forward to riding the NC500 in Scotland this Summer!

And Abroad? France and Belgium.

If you were offered the opportunity to go on an extended bike tour, who family members aside who would you choose as a riding companion? I have 2 sets of friends I usually ride with, the ‘Stooges’ or the Girls. We know each other well and we often ride together so we know each other’s riding styles.

How would you describe to a non-rider the attraction of riding a bike as opposed to driving a car? It’s the sense of freedom, of feeling on top of the world and yet at the same time vulnerable.

When do you intend to give up riding ? Hopefully in a long time from now!

Describe your scariest moment on your bike: At the beginning of my riding journey, on the way to Burnham-on-Crouch, I totally misjudged a bend and exited it on the wrong side of the road. Fortunately, there was no one coming the other way! I think that’s when I decided to get as much training as possible and I joined EAMG shortly afterwards. It taught me how to read the road and it restored my confidence when riding twisted countryside roads.
