Slow Riding/Machine Skills day Sunday 18th September, 2022
Posted: Tue Jul 19, 2022 9:53 am
Hi everyone.
Covid curtailed EAMG's Slow Riding Days (SRD) in the last years due to Ford's Dunton closing their facilities - still not available. We looked further afield and have booked North Weald Airfield unused runway to run SRD / Machine Skills day on 18th September. We have booked 9am to 1pm - when finished we hope you'll join us at the airfield cafe for lunch.
Note: Open to all Associates and Full Members.
We're going to develop the course into the following skills from our past SRD days:
1) Stands and manual handling.
2) Slalom.
3) Figure of eight.
4) Slow ride control.
5) U-turn.
6) Controlled stop.
7) Emergency stop - 30 MPH - we may introduce higher speed emergency stop - TBC.
8) Cornering and emergency stop.
9) Avoidance control.
10) Slow Riding fun Race - this is where everyone takes part in the slowest run over a measured distance without putting your foot down! - slowest participant wins the snail 'T' shirt.
11) Walk about manoeuvres with your machine to understand the balance to avoid dropping!
12) Counter steering - combined with cornering and emergency stop.
We may also introduce some additional skills to learn on the day.
Note: The Air Ambulance run is also starting from NW Airfield on same day so we will have a marshal with ORANGE bib at the entrance gate to point you in the right direction.
* Venue: North Weald Airfield, Merlin Way, CM16 6HR - East/West Disused runway.
* Arrival time: 08:30 prompt for briefing - finish at 1pm.
* Cost: £10 per head - I'll collect cash on the day.
* Bring water and snacks.
* Full tank of fuel.
* All riding with full safety gear.
Please note: This is only open to our 2022 membership or new members joining.
Please confirm your attendance via email to - mickhewitt39@hotmail.com. Or reply to this forum message. If you don't receive confirmation email please re-issue - will be monitoring junk mail. You can use this thread to ask questions or email me.
Looking forward to seeing you - will be a good day.
Regards
The Training Team.
