I am trying to resurrect my daughter's old Toshiba laptop that she had whilst at university. Unfortunately, when I power on, it comes up with her name and asks for a password. Daughter, of course, has no recollection of what she used (it's over 10 years ago) so I fall at the first fence. Does anybody know of a way around this?
Thanks
PS: Yes, I know it will probably be dog-slow and stuff but I thought it might be useful for the odd thing. Seems a pity to dump a fully-functional machine otherwise. Also, we have no idea what information may be on there so am reluctant to give it to an 'old computer' charity.
Any computer experts out there?

Doesn't time fly!! I have realised that it wasn't 10 years ago , it was 20! A sticker on the machine says it is running Windows 98.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have a couple of things to try that I found via the web, if they don't do the trick I may be in touch.
